FAQs

Starting an interior design project can feel like a big unknown so here are the questions we're asked most often. If there's anything else you'd like to know, we're always happy to chat.

How does the interior design  process work?

Every project begins with a consultation, a conversation where I get to understand you, your home, and how you actually live in it. From there, we develop a full design concept: space planning, mood boards, material selections, and detailed specifications.Nothing moves forward without your sign-off at each stage. Once the design is approved, we manage the entire process through to completion co-ordinating contractors, deliveries and styling, so you don’t have to think about a thing.

How long does a project take  from start to finish?

It depends on the scope. A  single room can take as little as 6–8 weeks from initial concept to  completion. A full home renovation or new build typically runs over 3–6  months. We’ll give you a clear, realistic timeline at the outset and we  keep you updated throughout, so there are never any surprises.

How do you charge for your  services?

We charge a design fee based on the scope of your project, agreed upfront before any work begins. That means you always know exactly what you’re investing before we start. I’ll walk you through all the options at your initial consultation and recommend the right service level for your project. No hidden extras, no unexpected additions.

What budget do I need for a  full interior design project?

Your overall project budget coveringfurniture, finishes, materials and contractors is separate from the designfee. I work with clients across a range of budgets and I’m always honest aboutwhat’s achievable and where to invest. One of the real advantages of workingwith a designer is knowing where to spend and where to save and having accessto trade suppliers you simply wouldn’t find on your own. I’m happy to talkthrough budget at your first consultation.

What does a full interior  design service include?

Our full service covers  everything from initial space planning, lighting design and electrical  layouts through to furniture specification, bespoke joinery, material and  finish selections, soft furnishings and final styling. We produce all the  technical drawings and specifications your contractor needs, and we manage  the project from start to finish. In short: every detail is handled, so your  home is designed as a complete, cohesive whole.

Do you manage contractors and  tradespeople?

Yes and this is one of  the parts of the service our clients value most. I have a trusted network of  skilled contractors, craftspeople and suppliers across Cheshire and the North  West, and we coordinate the entire installation process on your behalf. You  have one point of contact throughout: us. No chasing multiple trades, no  conflicting schedules, no stress.

Can you work on projects  outside of Cheshire?

Absolutely. While our  studio is based in Hale, we work with clients across the UK and beyond. We’re  experienced at managing projects remotely and travel to site wherever the  project requires it. Distance has never been a barrier to great design.

How does the online design  consultancy work?

Our online service gives  you direct access to me and the team, wherever you are in the world. Packages  start from £220 and include concept mood boards, curated shopping guides and  bespoke joinery plans everything delivered digitally so you can implement  at your own pace. It’s perfect if you’re looking for professional design  direction on a specific room without committing to a full project.

Can I visit your showroom in Hale?

Absolutely — and we'd love to welcome you. Our studio is at 180 Ashley Road in Hale, right in the heart of the village. It's where we work, meet clients and keep a curated selection of materials, fabrics and finishes for you to see and touch in person. Visits are by appointment so we can give you our full attention. Just get in touch and we'll arrange a time that works for you.

Can you help with just one room, or do I need a full renovation?

We work on projects of every size — from a single living room refresh to a complete home renovation or new build. There's no minimum project size. Whether you need one room reimagined or an entire property designed from the ground up, you'll receive the same level of care, creativity and attention to detail. We'll recommend the right service level for what you need at your initial consultation.

Which areas do you cover in Cheshire?

We're based in Hale, so we're perfectly placed for clients across South Manchester, Altrincham, Bowdon, Hale Barns, Wilmslow, Knutsford, Prestbury, Alderley Edge and the wider Cheshire area. We also work further afield across the North West and throughout the UK — we've completed projects from the Wirral to London. If you're unsure whether we cover your area, just ask. The answer is almost certainly yes.

Do you work on commercial and hospitality projects?

Yes. While much of our work is residential, we also design for commercial clients including restaurants, clinics, salons and retail spaces. The same principles apply — thoughtful design, quality materials and meticulous project management — but we also understand the specific requirements of commercial spaces: durability, regulations, branding and customer experience. If you have a commercial project in mind, we'd be happy to discuss it.

What's the difference between an interior designer and an interior decorator?

An interior decorator focuses on the surface-level aesthetics of a space — paint colours, soft furnishings, accessories and styling. An interior designer does all of that, but also works on the structure and function of a space: room layouts, lighting design, electrical plans, bespoke joinery, and coordination with architects and contractors. At Cheshire Property Studio, we offer full interior design — which means we can transform not just how a room looks, but how it works and how it feels to live in.

Do you work with new build developers?

We do, and it's one of our specialisms. Working on a new build gives us the opportunity to design from a completely blank canvas — getting involved at the right stage means we can influence layouts, lighting positions, electrical plans and material choices before anything is built. We work closely with architects, project managers and developers to make sure the design intent carries through from plans to finished home. We're currently working on several new build projects across Cheshire.

How do I get started?

The easiest way is to get in touch through our contact page, give us a call on 07584 308 335, or email hello@cpstudio.design. Tell us a little about your project — even if it's just a rough idea at this stage — and we'll arrange an initial conversation. There's no obligation and no pressure. It's simply a chance for us to understand what you're looking for and for you to see if we're the right fit.
